Schedules, comfort zones and routines are all things we have had to adjust over the past month. For some of us, that has included how we interact with medical professionals as most have transitioned to telehealth services.

If you have an upcoming appointment, you may be wondering what to expect during your virtual visit? Our Greenlight Team shares their research and advice so you can be the model patient.

During a telehealth visit (aka, a teleconsultation), you’ll use a microphone and camera enabled device (your laptop, tablet or smartphone) and the medical professional will use that same technology. Prior to your scheduled appointment time, you’ll want to test your tech, close unnecessary programs, move to a quiet place and prepare a list of what you want to talk about.

You will receive a call at the time of your scheduled appointment. If your provider is still with another patient, you will be placed into a virtual, private waiting room. Once your provider is available they will join the video conference. At that point you'll confer with your provider regarding any issues, symptoms or questions just like a traditional appointment and decide on a course of action.

Aside from the convenience, telehealth minimizes exposure and risk for patient and healthcare workers alike and that's something we can all get behind!
